A great place to take the family for the afternoon. Lots of farm animals, strawberries for the picking, and a playground for the children. The store had plenty of fresh produce and local goods. They also have a honey bee hut. The employees were very friendly. They provide a hayride through the farm with a educational guide. They also have a air conditioned dining room and tasty lunch fair. I got the chicken salad on a croissant with a sweet tea. Yum! :)
A family favorite place to pick strawberries. It's about four miles off the interstate but well worth the trek. Pick-your-own large strawberries on raised beds that make picking much easier. Pick-your-own cost was $1.75 per pound when we went last week. Lots of live farm animals (pigs, long horn cattle, donkeys, turkeys, chickens, bees, etc.) for kids to visit. Also a really nice playground and tricycle track for kids to run off some energy. Nice deli for lunch with delicious strawberry ice cream. Sometimes a cover charge of $5 per person depending on the day and time. Also have plenty of strawberries and other fruits and vegetables available for sale if you're not into picking your own.
I love going to Calhoun. The location is set up very well. They have many special events throughout the year. The special events can be very crowded. They do handle the crowds well though.
DON'T GO TO THE FENCE, THEIR DONKEY BITES ALTHOUGH HE WILL NUDGE YOUR SHOULDER IN A FRIENDLY WAY!!! My GF had to have surgery to clean out all the infection! Country Store is a bit pricey although the staff is friendly, the owner Brad Calhoun was not!
